The Computer Ate My Vote

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."
--attributed to Joseph Stalin

Missourians for Honest Elections-KC believes that electronic voting machines are a threat to Democracy. Privacy laws prevent the independent inspection of these machines’ programs. Certification has been misused, resulting in at least one lawsuit. Glitches and flaws have resulted in costly recounts and re-votes. And documented mishaps have affected the outcome of numerous races.

Our democracy is too important to be left to proprietary software and secret counting.

MOHE-KC believes the best way to count votes is by using hand-counted paper ballots. If electronic vote recorders and counters are to be used, however, election officials must conduct a statistically random hand count to double-check touchscreen and optical scan vote results.

Follow the links to the left to find out more about the controversy behind electronic voting and how we got into this mess in the first place. Find out what MOHE-KC proposes as solutions and what some locations are doing to solve the problem of electronic voting. Lastly, find out how to better educate yourself on this topic and what you can do to keep our elections honest. Elections cannot be stolen when we’re all watching.
